Get A Discount Dental Card

Times are changing rapidly when it comes to how we receive our medical and dental insurance. Since the onset of the Affordable Care Act, our health insurance is changing as we speak, and the same can be said for dental insurance.

The majority of the population that has had dental insurance have obtained it through their employer sponsored group health insurance plan at their place of employment, as it was usually included as a part of their benefit plan.

There are many employers, however who are abandoning their group health plan for their employees because the fees and expenses of maintaining the plan under the new health care laws are just too expensive. This leaves the employees on their own as far as finding their own medical and dental plans, and for the most part, people are not too find of what they are finding.

As far as dental coverage is concerned people are generally shocked when they find out what it costs on the open market without any employer cost sharing. For a family of four, a typical individual dental insurance plan might cost anywhere from $80 to $200 per month, with a 6 month to 2 year waiting period, and a benefit cap of $1,000 to $1,500 per year per family member.

At that point, many people just decide that they will do without any dental coverage for a while as it is too expensive. At this point it is estimated that 45% of Americans are now without any dental coverage at all, but that need not be the case.

Many people have not been aware, but they are finding out that they can obtain a discount dental card that allows them to participate in a discount dental plan. The cost is a fraction of what a traditional dental plan would cost, running only about $25 to $40 per month for a whole family, with no waiting periods, and no cap on benefits of any kind.

The way that it works is that the consumer pays a monthly fee, or premium as it were, and then they will have access to any dentist in the system. The consumer will pay a little more at the time of the service, but when you figure in all of the costs and limitations of the traditional plan, the discount card just makes a lot of sense, as it is cost effective, and it gets the job done very well.
